On-arrival training in Narbonne

In the end of March I have visited beautiful town on the very South of France – Narbonne. That was a meeting point for 13 EVS volunteers who arrived in France just recently. Participants and 2 trainers came together to speak up about the expectations regarding our EVS projects and in general just to meet other people doing EVS.

Intelligent, young and full of energy participants from different countries – Spain, Portugal, Latvia, Sweden, Tunisia, Georgia, Greece, Germany, Turkey, Estonia and Ukraine – spend 5 days learning and sharing different information about EVS journey, its opportunities and difficulties. In the end of training people became much closer, some of them found new friends and in general have spent good time together.

Two trainers have organized lots of workshops and games related to different topics – EVS and its aspects, ways of learning French, dealing with difficulties during the EVS and living in new cultural environment. Also, beside that, participants had a free time to discover Narbonne, hang out and spend fun time.

There are very pleasant feelings which are left after the training. People came from different countries with different backgrounds but in the same time there is one thing which is making us “in the same boat”. It is open-mind. We are all open to changes and not afraid to follow our own wishes.

P.S. EVS or European Voluntary Service – is an international volunteer program what enables all young people aged between 18 and 30 years to carry out an international volunteer service in an organization or in a public body in European Union or Partner countries for a period ranging from 2 to 12 months. It provides the reimbursement of travel expenses and complete coverage of the costs of food and accommodation for the international volunteer.
